Football is by far and away the number one sport in Aruba. Close cooperation with the Dutch FA provides for sustained development work in all areas, while Dutch experts often travel to Aruba in order to hold courses or seminars for technicians, referees or administrators. Aruban coaches are also regularly invited to attend courses at the Dutch FA’s technical centre in Zeist in order to broaden their knowledge.
On 2 June 2009, the Goal Bureau approved the Aruban Football Association’s second project. The objective of this project is the construction of a training centre for young footballers – boys and girls. The centre includes a floodlit artificial turf pitch, a stand and dressing rooms. The national youth teams use the centre as a training camp – the first ever built in this region of the country.
